About the product
Which languages can it write?
Verilog and SystemVerilog everywhere, and VHDL in Plan mode from a scratch workspace. See Language and target device.
Is the output synthesisable?
That is the target, and every run with Auto-Verify on is pushed through synthesis to check. Treat the result as a reviewed draft rather than as signed-off IP; you are still the engineer of record.
Can it work on code I already have?
Yes, through project mode: upload a zip and it edits your files in place and returns a diff. See Upload a project.
Do I get a testbench?
With Auto-Verify on, yes, and it is self-checking; it reports pass or fail rather than leaving you to read waveforms. See Auto-Verify.
Why am I in a waiting room?
New accounts are sometimes let in a batch at a time. Your account is real and your place is kept; verifying your email is what puts you in the queue, and inviting people is what moves you up it. See Early access.
Do I need a simulator installed?
No. Compilation, simulation and synthesis all run on our side; you get the logs and the files.
Billing
What does the free tier actually include?
Every feature. The free tier is limited by credit, not by capability: agent mode, project mode, debug, optimize, VHDL and every target device are all available on it. What you get is a one-time welcome grant and no card requirement. See Plans.
Why do I have two balances?
Plan credit comes with a subscription, refills monthly and is spent first. Usage credits are bought separately, never expire, and take over when plan credit runs out. The composer tells you when a run has moved from one to the other. See Credit and top-ups.
Does a paid plan unlock anything?
No. Every capability is on every plan, including Free. What a plan buys is monthly credit at a better rate, plus priority support. See Plans.
What happens if I cancel?
The plan runs to the end of the term you paid for, credit and all, and then the account returns to Free. Usage credits you bought are unaffected. You can take a cancellation back at any point before that date; see Buying and managing a plan.
Am I charged for a run that failed?
A run that did real work settles at what it cost, whether or not it produced a module you liked. A run that never started is released rather than charged. Your ledger shows which happened.
Do tools cost extra?
No. Tools do not add runs; they are part of the turn you already started. A turn that does more work may use more credit.
What happens when my credit runs out?
New runs are refused up front rather than started and abandoned half way, and nothing you typed is lost. Buy a credit pack, or pick a plan for monthly credit at a better rate; see Choosing a plan.
Working with it
Agent or Plan?
Agent when the next step depends on the last one, and for anything involving an existing project. Plan when you want to be asked about the ambiguities first, or when you need VHDL. See Agent mode and Plan mode.
Can one chat build a whole design?
One module per chat works best from scratch, because verification is built around a single design under test. For a multi-module design, use project mode; that is what it is for.
Can I attach a datasheet?
Not yet from the composer; the paperclip says so. Quote the part you need in the spec, or include the document in a project upload. See Knowledge base.
Can I share a result?
Yes, as a read-only link that needs no account. See Sharing a chat.
Can it fix a design I already have?
Yes. Debug mode takes a design that misbehaves and gives you a diagnosis with evidence plus a fix you can accept or turn down. Nothing is written to your files until you accept it.
Can it make a working design smaller?
That is what Optimize mode does; it rewrites your source to use fewer resources or less logic depth, and proves the behaviour is unchanged. The numbers are synthesis estimates rather than results from your own toolchain.
How thorough can verification get?
Auto-Verify writes and runs one self-checking testbench. Exhaustive Verification adds a corner-case test plan, an independent reference model, constrained-random stimulus and a coverage guard that has to be met before the run counts as a pass.
How do I tell you a result was bad?
Rate the turn; the thumbs sit under the most recent one, and a thumbs down opens a short form. If you need an answer rather than just to be heard, open a support ticket as well. See Rating a run.
Do I get anything for inviting a colleague?
Five free runs each, paid once they verify their email. Your link is in Settings under Referrals; see Referrals.
Is there an editor integration?
Yes. SiliCode for VS Code brings the same workflows into your editor, on the same account and credit. See the VS Code extension for what it does and Install and sign in to get it running.
Data
Is my work private?
Chats are private to your account; the only way to expose one is to create a share link. See Privacy and analytics.
How long are my files kept?
Generated files stay with their chat until you delete it. Uploaded project workspaces are cleaned up on a schedule; see Limits and retention.
