History

Find an older generation, reopen it, or clear it out for good.

Every chat you have run stays in your account until you delete it. The sidebar is where you find them again, and reopening one restores it completely: the conversation, the files, and the ability to carry on where you left off.

Chats are listed in the sidebar, grouped by when they were last active: Today, Yesterday and Earlier. Each row shows the chat title with the module name underneath, so two counters can be told apart without opening either.

The list holds your most recent chats rather than every chat you have ever run. In practice that is what you want from a sidebar; in the rare case that something has dropped off the end, the URL of a chat is stable, so a link you saved or shared still opens it.

Tip

Titles come from your first message. A chat that opens with a clear description is a chat you can pick out of a list a month later, which is a small argument for writing that first line properly even when you are in a hurry.

Getting the space back

The sidebar collapses to a narrow rail with the control at its top, and the account menu stays reachable in the collapsed state so settings, billing and logging out are always one click away. Opening Settings or Billing folds it away for you and restores your own preference when you come back.

Reopening a chat

Opening an old chat restores everything: the conversation, the files in the right-hand panel, and the ability to keep going. A follow-up in a chat from last month works exactly like a follow-up sent a minute after the first run.

Note

Your run configuration is not restored with the chat. The mode, tools and models in the composer are your current ones, not the ones that produced what you are looking at, so glance over them before sending a follow-up into an old thread.

Deleting

The ... menu on any row offers Delete chat, with a confirmation. It removes the conversation and the files generated in it, permanently.

  • A chat with a live run refuses to delete. Wait for it to finish or fail first; deleting underneath a running job would break it mid-write.
  • Any share link stops working. Deleting is the only way to withdraw one; see Sharing a chat.
  • Billing history is not affected. Charges stay in your activity table, which is what makes it a record.
  • An uploaded project workspace is not destroyed with it. It is detached and then cleaned up on its own schedule; see Limits and retention.
  • Download first. There is no undo and no recycle bin.
